Rahul Bhat started his career as India’s top model and won the title of Mr. India and was also judged as “The most photogenic face”. Bhat went on to launch several top brands like Ponds, Sprite and Colgate becoming a household face. At the age of nineteen, Bhat was cast as the lead in the serial “HEENA” on SONY TV which went on to be the longest running show on TV for five years with the highest TRP of 17.1 till date.
Bhat then colloborated with one of the biggest production houses of India Eagle films. Bhat was cast by top director Umesh Mehra as the lead in “Yeh Mohabbat Hai” and followed up with a lead double role in “Nayee Padosan” which became a cult comedy where he plays a north Indian actor as a south Indian character.
He took the lead in renowned director Anurag Kashyap’s award winning film “Ugly” and was nominated as “the best actor in New York Film Festival. “Ugly” was also selected in director’s fortnight at the Cannes Film Festival. Hollywood’s critic Brian Clarke quoted, “Anurag Kashyap’s Ugly Is a Riveting Thriller About Awful Things. Rahul Bhat does especially impressive work transitioning his character through some demanding plot twists and power shifts. “
Bhat is in “Jai Ganjajal” playing the lead role opposite one of the biggest female stars out of India and now a Hollywood icon; Priyanka Chopra. The film itself is a sequel of the mega hit film “Gangajal” with multiple award winning Director Prakash Jha.
His next film “Aur Devdas” is directed by renowned National award winning director and Ordre des Artes et des Lettres from the French Government awardee Sudhir Mishra. The story is an adaptation of William Shakespeare’s Hamlet and of the 1917 Sharad Chandra Chattopadhyay’s novel Devdas. The iconic role was first played by the legend Dilip Kumar in 1955 and then superstar Shah Rukh Khan in 2002 and now it is Rahul Bhat who will claim this character as his own.
Bhat is now the first Indian actor to be signed as the leading man for a Chinese film produced by the prestigious “China International Art & Business Alliance”. The film shoots on the exotic locations of Beijing and Sanya island.
